Female Pubic Hair Styles

Styling of the pubic hair has never been more popular for women and there is a wide range of female pubic hair styles to choose from. This article will describe the most popular styles and explain how they can be achieved. Whether you are looking for a new style that you can achieve at home, or thinking about a trip to a salon or spa, this page should help you decide which style is best for you.

The Trim

The most basic of all female pubic hair styles is the straightforward trim. The pubic hair is cut short all over using either a comb and scissors or an electric trimmer. This style can easily be achieved at home and doesn't require spa visits of a great deal of expense. A trim is also often incorporated into other styles when areas of pubic hair are left behind after shaving, waxing etc.

The Classic Bikini Line

The bikini line is a female pubic hair style in which pubic hair is removed from all areas not normally covered by a bikini. This traditionally includes the area above the pant line and the upper legs. The look can be achieved by shaving, waxing, sugaring, laser, depilatory creams or by using an electric bikini line trimmer.

Bikini Line Variations

Increasingly the trend is for the bikini line to be lower leaving a much smaller area of pubic hair which is then normally trimmed. This is sometimes known as a 'full bikini'. The hair on the mons (the bit at the top) can also be shaped into a landing strip (see below) or triangle. Hair is not usually removed from the labia but may be trimmed very short.

The Brazilian

Strictly speaking the Brazilian or 'Brazilian Wax' is a waxing technique but it has become commonly used to describe the resulting pubic hair style. This style involves removal of all hair from the labia, perineum and anal areas and can be achieved through waxing, shaving, sugaring or laser. Traditionally a very thin vertical line of pubic hair is left on the mons.

Variations on the Brazilian

The Brazilian forms the basis for a number of other female pubic hair styles which are essentially the same except for the amount of hair that is left on the mons and how that remaining hair is shaped. The following are some of the common variations...

The Landing Strip

The landing trip gets its name from the vertical strip of pubic hair that is left on the mons when all of the other hair has been removed. This is generally a wider strip than the thin line of the traditional Brazilian. The width of the strip varies but the distance between the two outer labia is a good guide as this allows the strip to form a continuation of the woman's natural folds. This style is also sometimes known as a French wax, Playboy or G-wax.

The Hitler

The Hitler or Chaplin moustache is a small rectangular area of pubic hair left on the mons just above where the labia join together.

The Triangle

The Triangle is achieved by shaping the pubic hair on the mons into a triangle with one corner just above the labia so that it points downwards like an arrow pointing at the clitoris.

Novelty Shapes

Having a novelty shape is similar to having a Triangle but the hair on the mons is trimmed into a more unusual shape such as a heart or lightening bolt. It is best to use a stencil for this rather than attempting it freehand!

The Hollywood

The Hollywood involves the complete removal of all pubic hair from the anal area right through to the mons at the front including the perineum and labia. It is the same as the traditional Brazilian except that there is no thin strip of hair left on the mons. Instead the mons is left completely hairless. The Hollywood is also sometimes know as the Sphinx but this name isn't common in the UK.

Avoiding Confusion

There are no universal rules for naming female pubic hair styles. The names I have given are those that I believe to be most commonly used in the UK, others may not agree. For example, many spas and salons vary in their meaning for a Brazilian. Some describe it as 'everything off', i.e. the Hollywood, whilst for others it is more like the landing strip or triangle. Similarly a basic bikini wax may be described as an American wax and a landing strip may be described as a French wax. So, if you are thinking of a trip to a salon, remember to tell them exactly what you want removed and what you want left. That way you can avoid confusion and potential embarrassment.

Bleaching and Colouring

Bleaching of the pubic hair to achieve a lighter shade is offered in some salons and can also be done at home. Colouring is also an option and can be combined with novelty shapes to give some interesting results such as a pink heart for Valentine's day. It is important to use bleaching or colouring products that are specifically designed for pubic hair – don't use a normal hair product.

Merkins

A merkin is a pubic wig that can be fitted over the pubic area as a decoration. They are often associated with the world of burlesque but can also be fun to try out for a special occasion. Merkins often come with a set of matching pasties (pasties being stick on nipple covers, sometimes with tassels, not the kind you eat).

Vajazzles

Vajazzles are designs made from small crystals stuck onto hairless areas usually in the area of the mons or maybe higher towards the bikini line. These can either be custom designs applied one crystal at a time or pre-made designs that are applied using ready made kits. Vajazzles can either be done professionally (usually after waxing or sugaring) or can be applied at home. They are applied using a strong but safe glue and usually stay in place for around three to five days. They are also waterproof so you can shower or swim without them coming off.

So, as you can see, there are many options when it comes to female pubic hair styles. From a light trim, to a full Hollywood with custom vajazzle, the choice is entirely down to you. I hope I have given you a better understanding of the choices available. Please have a look at the rest of my site for more tips and tricks for achieving and maintaining the perfect pubic hair style.
